Studying online allowed me to continue my education while working full time, which was extremely important to me.
My name is Eve, I am 27 years old and live in the Highlands of Scotland. In 2025, I completed the online Organisational and Business Psychology MSc, while working full time as part of a Human Resources (HR) Graduate Scheme. Balancing work and study was challenging at times, but it was an incredibly rewarding experience that allowed me to apply what I was learning directly to my role and professional development.
After completing my undergraduate degree, I knew I wanted to continue my studies alongside my career. I was looking for a programme where the connection between psychology and business was fully integrated, rather than studying the two subjects separately. This programme stood out because the content was highly relevant to my role in HR and explored how psychological principles can be applied within organisations. It offered the perfect combination of academic interest and practical relevance.
The University of Liverpool Online immediately stood out to me because, after reading the programme information, I felt genuinely excited about the modules and topics on offer. Studying online allowed me to continue my education while working full time, which was extremely important to me. I also appreciated the balance between flexibility and structure. The absence of fixed lectures and tutorials meant I could fit my studies around work commitments, while the programme provided enough guidance and accountability to keep me motivated and on track.
One of the aspects I enjoyed most was being able to directly connect the theories and concepts from the programme to the organisation I was working in. Applying academic models to real workplace situations helped bring the content to life and gave me a deeper understanding of how organisational psychology works in practice.
I also really valued the structure of the programme. The eight-week modules covered a substantial amount of content without feeling overwhelming, and the weekly discussions and activities helped me stay engaged and maintain momentum.
Go for it! Organisational and Business Psychology is a fascinating subject with insights that are relevant across a wide range of careers and industries.
My biggest piece of advice would be to actively engage with your fellow students. Studying online can sometimes feel isolating, but participating in discussions and connecting with classmates really enhances the experience. In some modules, our cohort even created group chats to support each other throughout the course and it was wonderful to finally meet many of them in person at graduation.
While completing a master’s degree requires commitment, hard work, and the occasional late night, it is an incredibly rewarding experience both personally and professionally. The sense of achievement at the end makes it all worthwhile.
I am currently working as an HR adviser, a role that I am really enjoying. Looking ahead, I would like to continue developing my career within HR and eventually specialise in a particular area. At the moment, I am keeping an open mind and exploring the different paths available, but I am excited to continue learning and building on the knowledge and skills I gained during my master’s programme.
