The University of Liverpool stood out to me due to its academic reputation and commitment to delivering high-quality online education.

Tell us a little bit about yourself
My name is Hassaan, and I’m currently based in the UAE. I have a background as a finance professional, but over the years I developed a strong interest in mental health and human behaviour. This led me to make a significant career shift and pursue an online Mental Health Psychology MSc at the University of Liverpool.
Why did you choose to study the programme?
I was drawn to mental health psychology because I wanted to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. As someone transitioning from a corporate background, I was looking for a programme that would provide me with both a solid academic foundation and a practical understanding of psychological concepts. This degree represents a new direction for me – one aligned with my values and passion for supporting others.
Why did you decide to study online with the University of Liverpool?
The flexibility of the programme was a major factor as it allowed me to continue working while studying. I was also impressed by the structure of the modules and the focus on current, evidence-based psychological approaches.
What do you enjoy the most about the programme so far?
What I have appreciated most is the quality of teaching and the level of support from the faculty. The content is thoughtfully designed and engaging, and the tutors are incredibly supportive and encouraging. I’ve also found the online learning environment to be intuitive and collaborative, which makes it easy to stay motivated and connected with fellow students.
What advice would you give to prospective students thinking of studying online?
Time management is key. Studying online offers great flexibility, but it also requires discipline and consistency. I would also encourage new students to make use of the support available – reach out to tutors, engage in discussion forums, and do not hesitate to ask questions. Building those connections early can really enhance your experience.
What are your plans for the future?
Now that I have completed all my modules, I am currently looking forward to finishing my dissertation and research work. This final stage of the programme is a great opportunity to deepen my understanding of a topic I am passionate about. Upon completing the degree, I aim to apply my knowledge in professional settings where I can contribute to improving mental health outcomes and continue developing my expertise in this field.
