I have decided to study at the University of Liverpool because it is among the best universities in the world. It has high teaching standards which help students learn many aspects of their selected field with high quality.
Tell us a little about yourself
I live in Duhok city which is located in the Kurdistan region, north of Iraq. I am an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) specialist and full stack developer. I have wide experience providing technical support and developing technology systems in the humanitarian aid sector. I am utilising and developing technology solutions to help the programming staff to leverage technology to provide better assistance for vulnerable people around the globe.
Why did you choose to study your programme?
This programme aims to teach new things in the computer science field and develop my technical skills [to help me] provide better technical support for the agency I work for. Additionally, it will also help me in my current and future careers.
Why did you decide to study online with the University of Liverpool?
Several universities provide online masters but I have decided to study at the University of Liverpool because it is among the best universities in the world. It has high teaching standards which help students learn many aspects of the selected field with high quality. The other reason was not to take a break from my current job because I love it, especially the professional work environment.
What has your experience of the programme been like?
The virtual learning environment (VLE) is very easy to use as it is well-designed and organised. I loved the structure of the VLE because it puts everything in one place and is easy to access. Honestly, in the beginning it was challenging to balance my studies with my current job, but over time I got familiar with the learning style and I was able to control the balance. The interaction was amazing with all the students, especially during the group projects. We could learn from each other and share our experiences.
What has inspired you most during your studies so far?
The most important part of my studies is the current global technology trends that exist in the modules. The learning style is not only about materials but most of it is practical, so after completing each module there are several things that I can apply in my current job or maybe in the future. I’ve already applied my learnings to my work. There were a few obstacles during my studies, but for me they were learning opportunities.
What are you looking forward to most on your programme?
I am looking forward to the upcoming modules to learn new and interesting things to apply in my workplace. I need to learn more about reasoning and intelligent systems, machine learning, and multi-agent systems.
